Terms of Service

Draft — not yet lawyer-reviewed. These terms are a starting template. Before public launch, review with counsel to make sure the jurisdiction, liability, dispute-resolution, and warranty clauses match the operating entity and target user base.

1. Service Description

Job Lobster is a private job-search workbench that ranks open roles from public ATS listings against your uploaded resume and profile, and helps you prepare tailored application materials. You operate the tool; we (the operator) host it and provide the underlying matching + drafting pipeline.

2. Your Account

You must provide a valid email address to sign in. We use a magic-link flow — no passwords are stored.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you upload (resume, answers to intake questions).
You may export all of your data or delete your account at any time from Setup → Your data.

3. Acceptable Use

Job Lobster is for personal job-search use. Do not use it to scrape jobs for commercial resale, spam employers with automated outreach, or misrepresent yourself in the materials it helps draft.
Do not upload content you do not have the right to share (someone else's resume, confidential employer information, etc.).
Do not attempt to probe, abuse, or overload the service — automated rate limits are in place and account suspension will follow violations.

4. AI-Generated Content

Job Lobster uses large language models (Anthropic's Claude family) to score, summarize, and draft application materials. Generated content (cover letters, tailored resume bullets, outreach messages) is a starting point, not a finished product. You are responsible for reviewing every draft before sending it to an employer or recruiter — factual accuracy, tone, and fit are your call. We do not guarantee that any draft will produce an interview or an offer.

6. Service Availability

Job Lobster is provided as-is. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uptime, and we may pause or modify the service for maintenance, cost control, or quality reasons. If a scheduled scan fails or an LLM provider has an outage, your application materials may be delayed.

7. Third-Party Services

Job Lobster integrates with:

Anthropic — LLM inference for scoring and drafting. Your resume and application context are sent to Anthropic's API.
Resend — email delivery for magic-link sign-in and the (optional) daily digest, when enabled.
Public ATS providers (Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever, Workday, etc.) — we read open job listings from public endpoints. We do not submit applications on your behalf automatically.

Each provider has its own terms and privacy policy. By using Job Lobster you acknowledge that your data passes through these processors.

8. Liability

Review with counsel: liability cap + disclaimer language should match the operating entity's jurisdiction and the user base's consumer-protection laws. The clause below is a placeholder.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Job Lobster, its operators, and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service — including but not limited to missed opportunities, lost offers, or content errors in generated materials.

9. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time via Setup → Your data → Delete account + data. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate the acceptable-use clause or that are inactive for an extended period (after notice).

10. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be surfaced in the app. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
